Workforce Development at the DTC

Building the talent pipeline from K–8 to career-ready professionals

At the Digital Transformation Center, workforce development isn’t a single program-it’s a continuum.

From sparking curiosity in young learners, to preparing college students for emerging tech careers, to upskilling today’s workforce with hands-on digital engineering tools, the DTC is where people gain the skills that shape tomorrow’s innovation economy.

Our Workforce Development Approach

Workforce development at the DTC follows a holistic strategy:

  • Spark interest early with K–8 programs like the Windmill Project
  • Engage students and educators with hands-on technologies and real project exposure
  • Prepare emerging professionals through internships and digital engineering experiences
  • Upskill today’s workforce with immersive, high-tech training in the DEC
  • Advance digital engineering adoption through MBSE certification and professional education

From spark to skill

to long-term success.

K–8 STEM Outreach

Igniting curiosity early—one windmill at a time.
The DTC partners with regional schools and organizations to deliver engaging, hands-on STEM experiences that help students explore the world of engineering and digital technologies. Our flagship initiative, the Windmill Project, introduces K–8 students to renewable energy, mechanical design, and problem-solving through a fun, build-and-test experience. Students design their own mini-turbines, experiment with blade shape and angle, and see how engineering choices impact energy output.

High School & College Engagement

Connecting students to real-world digital engineering pathways.

Through events like Career Adventures Day, classroom visits, capstone support, and student-led projects like AeroPrint, the DTC creates high-touch opportunities for students to explore how drones, 3D printing, digital scanning, and virtual prototyping solve real problems in industry and government. Our engineering, computer science, and business interns gain real experience inside the Digital Transformation Center—supporting demos, assisting with events, contributing to research, and working on active digital engineering projects.

Upskilling Today’s Workforce

Training designed for industry, government, and the future of work.
Digital transformation moves fast—so we help professionals stay ahead of it. The DTC offers targeted upskilling opportunities across digital engineering, data, XR, and emerging technologies, including: Hands-on sessions inside the Digital Enterprise Collaboratory (DEC)—where digital twins, XR, modeling tools, and real-world scenarios come together.
Instructor-led workshops that train teams in the skills required for modern engineering workflows.

MBSE Training & Certification

Building the next generation of digital engineers.
The DTC is proud to partner with Studio SE to offer MBSE Masterclass and SysML training, including CEU-accredited courses designed for engineers, architects, project managers, and professionals moving into model-based workflows. These programs help learners move beyond theory to practice – building models, exploring architectures, and applying MBSE principles to scenarios engineers face every day.
